What difference between xbox 360 kinect modified and unmodified?does it play the games on its hard disk or CD?

i m confused which one should i buy the pricew is not an option,but cold some one guide me to a better suggestion because i am willing to buy a ps3 too but the kinect has impressive gameplay but does it really have such enjoyment and better gameplay ,correct me if i am wrong????
